The profession of coffee cultivation in Rijal Almaa Governorate has returned to the forefront of the economic scene in Asir Region, as farmers have revived some old farms renowned for growing and marketing coffee.
Revival of Old Farms
Ali Abdullah Sayyad, CEO of the Coffee Cooperative Association in Rijal Almaa Governorate, explained that the locals have revived several old farms in recent years and developed them using modern farming methods. The number of farms has now reached 286, containing 93,082 trees, of which 63,328 are productive coffee trees yielding approximately 33,216 kilograms of coffee annually.
Association Support for Farmers
The association offers numerous awareness programs and workshops for farmers through specialized agricultural engineers, who train and qualify farmers, enhancing their capabilities in modern coffee cultivation and maximizing crop quality. The association also provides fertilizers, equipment, integrated irrigation systems, and farming tools such as shovels, plows, hoes, and pickaxes, as part of ongoing support for the success of agricultural activities.
Supporting the Local and National Economy
These efforts aim to support the local economy and the Kingdom as a whole, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 for transitioning from pastoralism to development.
