Dubai Metro
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the Blue Line of the Dubai Metro will commence operations in September 2029. The project aims to connect key areas of the emirate, offering time-efficient and sustainable travel solutions. Construction is set to begin in April 2025, with phased development.
Key Features of the Blue Line
- Length: 30 kilometers
- Stations: 14
- Exchange Points: Al Khour, Centrepoint, and Dubai Global City 1
- Direct Connections: Dubai International Airport and 9 major areas
- Integration: With the Red and Green Lines
- Capacity: Up to 40,000 passengers per hour
- Traffic Reduction: Estimated at 30%
Contracts Awarded
The RTA awarded contracts worth AED 20.5 billion to a Turkish-Chinese consortium, including MAPA, LIMAK, and CRRC.
RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer emphasized measures to ensure service continuity during adverse weather, such as:
